REVENUE/CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE

Currently, the City of Belleville has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, strategic, and dynamic individual to join our Finance Department as a Revenue/Customer Service Representative.

Salary: Jurisdiction A Grade 6 $30.22 - $34.73 per hour

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
Reporting to the Coordinator of Revenue & Customer Service, the Revenue/Customer Service Representative is responsible for processing and reconciliation, customer payments and providing customer service.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position will:
  • Provide timely, accurate information to the Coordinator, and respond appropriately to their direction and decisions.
  • Provide customer service, including but not limited to addressing a wide range of public inquiries/complaints and or requests regarding multiple departments and offering solutions, at the customer service counter, by telephone and email, and assisting with the completion of various applications and forms.
  • Process and reconcile all City revenues received including taxes, parking, and account receivable, over the counter payments and by electronic transfers. 
  • Perform day and month-end balancing in accordance with the City’s procedures and controls.
  • Maintain the sale spreadsheets for various revenue streams (e.g. transit passes and ticket sales, burn permits, yard sales, dog tags, bag tags and bulky goods sales.),
  • Provide verification of the City’s Senior Rebate/ODSP program applications for processing, recording and reconciliation. 
  • Process petty cash vouchers for City departments and their reconciliation.
  • Assist with the setup and maintenance of land severance files, cheque vouchers and prepare duplicate tax receipts and letters as required. 
  • Provide support for the Property Tax Co-coordinator as needed.
  • Prepare tax certifications for management’s approval.
  • Assist with the development of standard operating procedures and implementation of new technology.
  • Communicate professionally, and effectively with all staff, vendors and agencies, promoting a high standard of customer service, with a focus on accessibility inclusive of the needs of a diverse community. 
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

EDUCATION/TRAINING/SPECIALIZED SKILLS:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Two (2) years Accounting college diploma
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check (“CRC”) prior to commencing work at the City of Belleville.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Municipal Tax Administration Course 

WORK EXPERIENCE:
Required Qualifications:
  • One (1) year municipal office related experience in accounting
  • Demonstrated cash handling experience
  • Experience in customer service, with the ability to communicate effectively with the public in person, on the phone and in written format.
  • Computer literacy with intermediate  skills in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.,
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a demanding environment
  • Proven ability to work with professionalism and confidence with all levels of management and the public
  • Strong conflict resolution & interpersonal skills
  • Previous experience working with confidential and sensitive material
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in a Municipal Property Tax environment
  • Experience with office equipment and municipal financial software
