CASUAL LABOURER (WATER SERVICES)

Hourly Rate: $24.42 per hour plus a shift premium as applicable
PURPOSE AND SCOPE
Reporting directly to the Water Services Supervisor, the Casual Labourer (Water Services) is part of a team dedicated to the maintenance and customer service of the department.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with the daily maintenance of grass cutting, property maintenance, weeding, trimming, and upkeep of properties under control of Environmental Services.
- Upkeep of storm ponds and assisting full-time staff with work assignments.
- Report vandalism/public concerns/mechanical difficulties/equipment or property damage
- Complete daily truck logs
- Comply with all applicable regulations and procedures (SOPs, OHSA, ESA).
- Assist with snow operations and removal.
- General maintenance duties such as janitorial and painting as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/SPECIALIZED TRAINING/SKILLS:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
- Class G driver’s license with clean driver’s abstract
- Must be physically fit and able to work in adverse weather conditions.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision and in a team setting.
- Operator in Training Certificate in Water Treatment, Distribution or Wastewater
- 2-year Community College diploma in a technical course of study
Minimum Qualifications:
- One year experience in lawn maintenance, parks work, general construction, or landscaping.
- Class DZ driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract.
- Training in first aid, CPR, and WHMIS
- Book 7 training.
