PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
The Museum Assistant will be integral to the operations of the site on their scheduled
workdays and will take an active role in the opening and closing procedures of the
museum, handling telephone inquiries, front desk/visitor reception, gift shop sales, and
light housekeeping. In addition, this position will contribute to Glanmore's public
programs, special events, outreach, and guided tours.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The position will:
- Maintain front desk coverage and provide reception support to members of the public and staff. Welcome, register, monitor and support guests while they are onsite.
- Help present experiences for museum visitors that are participatory/immersive.
- Demonstrate best practices in excellent customer service.
- Take payments, bookings, and assist museum guests.
- Track attendance figures and make notes on engagement levels.
- Work with team members to achieve museum goals.
- Provide timely and accurate information to the Manager and respond to direction and decisions as required.
- Make decisions based on existing policies and procedures, with some interpretation, within prescribed limits.
- Participate in orientation, training and review/follow corporate policies.
- Perform all tasks and responsibilities through the lens of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, ensuring commitment to fairness, representation, accessibility and respect for diverse perspectives and cultures in all aspects of work.

EDUCATION/TRAINING/SPECIALIZED SKILLS:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be currently enrolled in, or have recently graduated from, high school, college, or university.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check (“CRC”) and Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSC) prior to commencing work at the City of Belleville.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Post-secondary program in Museum Studies, History, Art History, Education, or a
- related field, completed or in progress.
- Current valid First Aid and CPR-C with AED certification.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Required Qualifications:
- Prior experience in customer service/working with the public.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with cash-handling and Point-of-Sales systems with demonstrated
diligence in ensuring the input of accurate admissions/sales data.
