DOWNTOWN HELPER
Position Type: Temporary Full-Time
Hourly Rate: $21.22 - $23.25 per hour
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week
Department: Transportation and Operations Services Department
Employee Group: Non-Union
Work Location: 31 Wallbridge Crescent Belleville and other locations within the City
Closing Date: January 9, 2026 at 4:30 PM
PURPOSE AND SCOPE
Reporting directly to the Operations Supervisors or designates, the Downtown Helper will perform general cleaning and grounds maintenance in the downtown area.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Grass trimming
- Sidewalk sweeping
- Garbage removal
- Reporting any major maintenance issues on City roads or sidewalks to supervisor
- General cleaning duties
- Interacting with community members providing a positive representation of the City.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must hold a valid class G Driver’s License for the Province of Ontario with a clean driving record
- Able to operate small power equipment used in maintenance/cleaning work
- Must be physically fit and able to work in adverse weather conditions
- Good customer relations skills
- Must have safety footwear
