CAMP COORDINATOR

Hours: 40 hours per week, 7:00am – 4:00pm and/or 9:00am – 6:00pm, Monday to Friday
Employee Group: Non-Union
Salary: $21.22 - $23.25 per hour

As a member of the Community Services Department, this position will oversee the development, coordination, and implementation of the camp programs, prepare schedules, train, supervise, and evaluate Camp Staff and assist the Program Coordinator as needed.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position will:
- Represent the City of Belleville in a professional manner with appropriate actions and conduct.
- Be responsible for ensuring the Camp Staff & volunteers provide safety and supervision to the participants and the rules and regulations set out by the Department and/or outside organizations are followed.
- Be responsible for the development and implementation of an extensive training program and weekly staff meetings for Camp Staff.
- Be responsible for the supervision and evaluation of all Camp Staff and notify the Program Coordinator of any problems, challenges, or issues.
- Oversee all supervision of daily camp programs, special events, trips, and outings for the Camp programs.
- Ensure that all City of Belleville Camps are properly supplied with craft, first aid equipment and supplies, on a weekly basis.
- Ensure the completion, organization, and submission of all administrative Camp forms and paperwork.
- Act as a supervisor for day trips (including swimming) or coverage for a Camp Staff, as required.
- Act as a resource person, coach, and mentor to all Camp Staff and volunteers.
- Be responsible for the evaluation of all camp programs and recommending any changes to the Program Coordinator.
- Provide timely, accurate information to the Child and Youth Program Coordinator and respond appropriately to their decisions and directions.
- Perform all tasks and responsibilities through the lens of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, ensuring commitment to fairness, representation, accessibility and respect for diverse perspectives and cultures in all aspects of work.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- A student in or graduate of a post-secondary recreation or child related field of study.
- Valid current Standard First Aid and C.P.R. certification.
- Valid High Five, Healthy Child Development certification.
- Valid ‘G’ Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle is required.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check (“CRC”) and Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSC) prior to commencing work at the City of Belleville
- Staff supervisory experience of at least one (1) year/season.
- Minimum of two (2) years/seasons of experience as a Senior Program Leader or equivalent experience working with children in a recreational or educational setting.
- In-depth experience with program/lesson planning, design, development, and implementation of children’s, age-appropriate activities.
RECRUITMENT PROCESS:
Stage 1 – Interviews: Interviews with candidates selected for the interview stage will be scheduled between February 20, 2026 and February 22, 2026.Stage 2 – Offer Letter and Onboarding Paperwork: Offers will go out before the end of March 2026 and a date will be included in all offer letters for return of onboarding paperwork.
Stage 3 – Start Date: The anticipated commencement of this position is May 19, 2026 until September 5, 2026.
